How It Started
Built on doing the small jobs right.
Brett Holmes started the company started BM Total Building 25 years ago, working across the Northern Illawarra one job at a time. The business grew the way a trade business should: word of mouth, repeat clients, and a reputation for turning up and finishing what we start.
Today the business builds everything from decks and re-roofs through to full custom new homes, but it's now run by Aaron and Jack: maintaining the high-quality service tradition.

We build it like it's ours.
Aaron inspects every job before it's called finished, not just when something's gone wrong. Site costs and PC items are written into the quote up front, so what you're shown at the start is what you get at handover. It's a slower way to run a building company than handing jobs off to whoever's free. It's also the reason clients call us for the next job, and send their neighbours our way.

What people ask before they call.
Will you blow the budget?
Every quote is fixed price and itemised line by line, including site costs, excavation and PC items. Nothing gets "clarified" as a variation once the job is underway.
Will the job finish on time?
One team runs the whole job, so you're not waiting on five separate trades to line up their schedules. You'll get regular updates through the build, not just at handover.
What areas do you service?
The Northern Illawarra and the Sutherland Shire, from Helensburgh and Stanwell Park down through Wollongong, and across to Cronulla and Sutherland. Full suburb list is below.
Are you actually licensed and insured for a job this size?
Yes. We're a licensed builder and covered under the NSW Home Building Compensation Fund, which is required by law for residential work over $20,000. Licence and HBCF details are in the footer of every page.
Do you only do small jobs?
No. We build everything from decks and re-roofs through to full custom new homes and knock down rebuilds, from $15,000 jobs up to $1.5M plus builds. Have a look through Our Work to see the range.
